The working group 'Institutions and Welfare' deepens and fosters research and debate on the major institutional transformations that affect welfare systems in Italy as in the rest of Europe.
Under the guidance of scholars and researchers engaged for several years in teaching and research activities concerning welfare and social policy changes, it focuses on some of the most significant and current issues that form an unstable as well as complex mosaic, but still the result of the tangle of several distinct and interdependent processes. In particular, it addresses the following issues: the crisis and the reorganisation of welfare, the evolution of poverty and vulnerability, the changing forms and technologies of government, the financialization of welfare and well-being, the ambivalence of social innovation and participation, the role of expertise. The collection of these themes and research paths is carried out from a perspective that favors the local dimension as a crucial space for the analysis of the evolution of welfare, by applying an institutional approach, attentive to the regulatory and cognitive framework of the public action.
Finally, the purpose of this working group is to encourage third mission activities by supporting and creating new opportunities for dialogue with the local context, including through the promotion of meetings and seminars with stakeholders, public actors and members of civil society.
